Dominic Thiem v Guido Pella – ATP Barcelona
OK, I haven’t been on the tennis for a while. Thought it was time to give it a go again. Discipline always let me down in the past. Hopefully not now.
I loaded up Betdaq with £700 and checked out the games that were in play.
Thiem v Pella was there.
Thiem was slightly behind towards the end of the first set.
Thiem pulled it back level and I got in with a back of Thiem at 1.28 when he went ahead on Pella’s serve. I am not up with who is decent at the moment. Thiem is ranked #5! He was never up there when I last used to trade a bit, so that shows how long it’s been.
Thiem wins the first set. Time to check stats. I love a stat.
Thiem, on clay, after winning the first set is 159-7, so he wins 95% of his games when up a set.
Pella, on clay, after losing the first set against top 25 opponents is 0-9 in six years. He does well overall when a set down, winning 40% of his matches still but not against top class opponents.
Protecting the bankroll is something I will be focussing on much more this time around. Not just with doing my best not to chase. But also with smaller stakes, even after losing trades.
I will also let some trades run as a bet if I am confident of a win.
Thiem goes a break ahead in the second.
And then wins in straight sets.
Victoria Azarenka v Anett Kontaveit – WTA Stuttgart
Stats looked interesting but I don’t know anything about Kontaveit. The stats made me think that she wouldn’t lose in straight sets to Azarenka.
Azarenka doesn’t do well as an underdog on clay. I went with a back of Kontaveit during the first set @1.71.
Azarenka breaks to take the first set and leads in the second, breaking, before being broken back and then breaking again.
Aza is dominating. This looks like the old Viki that I used to watch. I didn’t think she was about anymore after looking at her record.
I’m glad that I used 5% and didn’t use too much. I don’t get stressed now when a match goes against me. I am happy to lose 5% as most of the time my predictions in the past were enough to take the odd loss.
Kontaveit battled back and took the second set. I am still letting this run for now. She’s back @1.70 so I am at break even at the start of the third set.
Now I will take a green that won’t have to be a big win. I am happy it came back my way at all.
Kontaveit breaks to lead 0-2 in the final set.
I greened out but it did go a bit wrong as Geeks Toy wasn’t refreshing so I didn’t realise the trade was completed. I got there in the end though.
Not sure if it’s Betdaq or Geeks Toy, something to keep an eye on though.
Job done for today. Two greens from two. Very happy considering it’s been a few years. Patience has paid off with the Azarenka match.
